Northville was established sometime during the 1940s. Incorporated in 1955, the city of Northville included portions of Novi Township in Oakland County, and Northville Township in Wayne County. The city experienced significant expansion over the next few years. Portions of the Village of Novi and Novi Township were officially annexed to this city.
